Yankees 9 O’s 1

Phil “Franchise” Hughes’ line: 7 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 BB and 7 K for a 2.54 ERA and 7-1 record. Of his 101 pitches, he threw 72 strikes. I’ll take 71% thrown strikes any day.

Let me have Newman describe his outing:

If our complete lineup can score 75% of tonight, we will be sitting pretty. Jorge was the DH and had a hit and scored from first on a double by Grandy who went 3 for 4. Swish went 3 for 5 and Robinson “All World” Cano went 3 for 4 with his 12th home run to extend his hitting streak to 16 games. Michael Kay made a good point about beating the bad teams because if you don’t, those extra losses could mean a lot at the end of the season. Good win.
