Yankees 9 A’s 3

I have great respect for the Yankees beat writers. It’s hard coming up with something worthwhile to read everyday. I have been remiss lately and today I will again use Chad Jennings’ post from our friends at LoHud.

Phil Hughes was effective but not efficient, and it was his pitch count more than his innings limit that forced him out of the game after the fifth. Even so, Hughes picked up his 16th win. The Yankees offense did more than enough damage with home runs from Mark Teixeira, Nick Swisher and Curtis Granderson. They’ve scored at least nine runs in three of the past four games.
